Dieses Werk ist ein interessanter Mix aus Zeitreise, Tower Climbing und Karten-basiertes Litrpg.
Ein alter Mann wacht nach seinem Ableben wieder in dem Moment auf bevor sein Leben sich für immer veränderte und nutzt sein Wissen über zukünftige Ereignisse um sich einen Vorteil zu verschaffen.
Wo die meisten Werke die ich darüber gelesen habe dies normalerweise nutzen würden um ihren Protagonisten wie einen Allwissenden Gott dastehen zu lassen lässt dieser Autor mehr Zurückhaltung walten. Auch wenn der Held der Geschichte ein Fotografisches Gedächtnis hat und Zugriff auf einen Haufen von Berichten über Ereignisse in seinem Vorleben stellt sich heraus das die meisten Leute tiefgründiger sind als er sie sich vorgestellt hatte und Informationslücken fast so fatal für ihn sind als die Monster die er zu bekämpfen schwört.
Über den Tower in dem die Welt spielt kann ich leider noch nicht viel sagen da das erstürmen jenem in diesem Buch noch nicht begonnen hat, jedoch lassen mich die wenigen Momente die gezeigt wurden dem entgegensehen.
Das Fähigkeiten-System gibt mir leider sehr zwiespältige Gefühle, auf der einen Seite gibt die Tatsache das man mithilfe dem wechseln von Karten sein Build ändern kann dem ganzen ein frisches Gefühl zu den ganzen Litrpgs die größtenteils auf die selbe Art und Weise funktionieren. Auf der anderen Seite sind die meisten Karten dieselben Fähigkeiten wie es sie überall sonst gibt, nur ohne Mana- oder Staminakosten wenn die Stat-Karten hoch genug gelevelt sind, Es fühlt sich ein bisschen an als würden jemand versuchen dir etwas neues anzubieten nur das du feststellst das abgesehen von einigen Schlüsselbegriffen es dasselbe wie ist wie vorher.
Die Story und die Charaktere sind nicht unbedingt bahnbrechend, aber solide. Der Protagonist ist ein über hundert Jahre alter Mann im Körper eines 18-jährigen (wenn ich richtig erinnere) der sich wie ein Britischer Gentleman aus der Viktoria-Zeit verhält, komplett mit Gehschwert und Germophobie. Letztere wird meiner Meinung nach ein bisschen zu dick aufgetragen, gerade die Scene beim Metzger war übertrieben nach meinem Geschmack.

I like the idea of the story and the card system is interesting too. The MC is not an idiot and side characters are interesting 👍.
As a first book it sets up Plot points nicely for future books.

Fun start to the series. In a way it does have an "introductory" feeling to it, easing us into the world and teasing a lot of information. Nonetheless it was a nice listen, which in itself makes me hopeful for what else the author has in store for us. Really glad Jeff is the one narrating this, makes the experience even better.

Fun story and great concept. In a genre where great hit and great miss are very common, this is definitely a great hit. The setup is good, the character writing is consistent, the rpg element vs story is well balanced, and the narrator goes beyond the normal narration. The only problem is that the second book isn't out yet.

Der MC ist glücklicherweise kein Trottel. Das erdachte Universum ist interessant. Ich freue mich auf den nächsten Teil.

Enjoyed the whole audio book from the start and would recommend it definitely for fans of LitRPG. It’s an well written start for the series and the Author is never boring with his choice of words. Jeff did an awesome job with this reading here, looking forward to book two.

It's a great book and the narrator is insanely good.
BUT the EQ... the bass of the narrators voice literally hurts my ears. Please please 🙏🏼 use some low cut filter.

it's great except for one thing. I will not listen to his current build for half an hour at the end even though I really want to know. That's a mental exercise for a double level up in intelligence.
Why don't you don't you put that on some wiki? That has also the benefit of comparing his cards as he grows. Then it's 5★

First of all i would give 4.5 stars for this book as it is really good. I decided to go with 5 since i feel this series is going to be a step above a lot of the drag this genre produces.

The book starts like almost any ordinary regressor story with the mc being unable to stop a great evil, regretting a lot of things and gets thrown back in time. This concept is nothing new but in this work it's plausible and well executed.

After this part the rest of the first half of the book is feeling really slow and i struggled to keep listening to it.

As the Journey unfolds and more characters get introduced the book gets more interesting. I for myself think the characters and interactions are the main selling point of this. All of them are well written and the baroque atmosphere is a pleasure to listen to, it is fun to listen to an old man in a young body struggling to behave young again.

For the narrators performance, Jeff Hays is a staple in this genre and did some really really awesome work with Dungeon Crawler Carl and Life Reset both of which i consider a must listen as they are really really good. Sadly i think this work does not fit Jeff Hays that much and i would have preferred someone like Peter Berkrot or Travis Baldree.
He still did a great job and it's not his fault the setting does not fit him as much. Maybe that's also just my opinion.
The added "Soundeffects" were in my opinion rather bad so please don't add them in future works.

All in all this series has great potential and if you are on a fence for buying it please consider it as it is above 95% of other litRPG/Regressor storys.
