Nice one!

Sehr gutes erste Buch, einer spannenden Geschichte.
Der MC ist glücklicherweise kein Trottel. Das erdachte Universum ist interessant. Ich freue mich auf den nächsten Teil.

Solid

The beginning sounded familiar, but the story became more original over time.
It total this is a great, solid book if you like the genre.
Narration wise, there was one thing I did not like: the perspective switches, but they were tolerable.

The narrator was good, but the performance was reduced by occasional soundeffcts (echo, chorus, screaming,...) that were not leveled to the other audio. This is listed as audiobook and not as radio play, so dear production team: please stop using those anoying effects. Jeff Hays does a great job, there is no need to exeggerate the performance with effects. I´d prefere a pure audiobook without effects.

Jeff and good Writing

Jeff might be one of the best narrators of the genre. I was aware that the studio is trying sound effects, thus I wasn't negatively surprised - which happened to others, I'm afraid.

The story seems pretty basic: Tower, tower outbreak, destruction of civilization... and the hero goes back in time to fix that. Quite boring and used in several other stories within this genre.
But here, the hero is just a good guy who just tries being better this time. He's not overpowered, he does not have a hero complex, he's not a dick and is also a complex character - which isn't like that in similar stories.
Furthermore, Kerberos (the author) does not describe the world. You have to figure it out on your own. They do not explain good and evil, money, trade, leveling... That's refreshing and I really do appreciate that.
Combine that with well though through characters and nice language, you'll find a great listening experience.

Basically, this is just the first book but already one of LitRPG's bests. I'm looking forward to the next parts and I'm confident the story will keep the good impression of the first book.

Tolle Charaktere, gute Story - einfach ein tolles Buch

Das Buch hat alles was man braucht für einen Bestseller. Eine gute Geschichte, interessante Charaktere und eine spannende Welt. Der Sprecher ist ebenfalls sehr gut.

Really well done!

I really wasn´t sure what to expect from this, deck building in an audiobook?
I tried it out and I´m reaaaaaaaaaly happy I did! If you enjoy LitRPG I think you´ll enjoy this as well. The world is well made, the characters believable and there a lot of turns that are not predictable! Give it a try!!

Too much bass

It's a great book and the narrator is insanely good.
BUT the EQ... the bass of the narrators voice literally hurts my ears. Please please 🙏🏼 use some low cut filter.

A nice piece for the train

I really like Jeff Hays, combined with a rather interesting concept and Story? Match made in Haven. :D

Solid first book

Starts slow but picks up the pace steadily. Left me looking forward to book 2

A great story with minor flaws

First of all i would give 4.5 stars for this book as it is really good. I decided to go with 5 since i feel this series is going to be a step above a lot of the drag this genre produces.

The book starts like almost any ordinary regressor story with the mc being unable to stop a great evil, regretting a lot of things and gets thrown back in time. This concept is nothing new but in this work it's plausible and well executed.

After this part the rest of the first half of the book is feeling really slow and i struggled to keep listening to it.

As the Journey unfolds and more characters get introduced the book gets more interesting. I for myself think the characters and interactions are the main selling point of this. All of them are well written and the baroque atmosphere is a pleasure to listen to, it is fun to listen to an old man in a young body struggling to behave young again.

For the narrators performance, Jeff Hays is a staple in this genre and did some really really awesome work with Dungeon Crawler Carl and Life Reset both of which i consider a must listen as they are really really good. Sadly i think this work does not fit Jeff Hays that much and i would have preferred someone like Peter Berkrot or Travis Baldree.
He still did a great job and it's not his fault the setting does not fit him as much. Maybe that's also just my opinion.
The added "Soundeffects" were in my opinion rather bad so please don't add them in future works.

All in all this series has great potential and if you are on a fence for buying it please consider it as it is above 95% of other litRPG/Regressor storys.

Great Story, Voice Actor took a minute

Story is pretty interesting.
Deckbuilding is the main "mechanic" but not so pervasive as to smother plot or character development. World building is decent, but leaves a few holes.
Major plus point are the characters. Well written, believable and no cheap tropes.
If I had one complaint, it might be that for now it seems to be a bit too easy for the main character. However it is still no childish power fantasy, as you find so often in this genre.

The speaker has a rather prominent accent (Northern English, Yorkshire I think, like Sean Bean) and for non-native speakers, it might be a bit hard to understand at first.
But I got used to it after 1-2 hours.
