I don't know why this is being marketed as a Regency romance, because it really isn't. I'd call it a male-focused adventure story with bits of the detective and romance genres mixed in, which happens to take place in the Regency era, but is decidedly a 50s novel. It's a strange mix and I'm not really sure who it is even for. I overall found it an ok read, but I was annoyed and bored by too many things. I was not a fan of the huge amount of 50s-sounding slang (that's I think meant to be humorous but wasn't for me), the way the story focused on the heroic males and didn't give the females anything to do (although the few that existed were set up to be good characters), and the very underdeveloped romance. They fall in love at first sight, they have a strange wedding, the end. The rest is all adventure plot that drags a lot and is rather predictable. I feel like there could have been done so much more with thid setup, these characters and also by this writer, I'm really a bit disappointed. Maybe she wrote other books that I like better, possibly I should give her another try.
The narrator was quite good though!
