Sylvester is read by Matt Addis, who appears in Doctors and Doctor Who.

Sylvester, Duke of Salford, is considering marriage.

Endowed with rank, wealth and elegance, Sylvester, Duke of Salford, posts into Wiltshire to discover if the Honorable Phoebe Marlow will meet his exacting requirements for a bride. If he does not expect to meet a tongue-tied stripling wanting both manners and conduct, then he is intrigued indeed when his visit causes Phoebe to flee her home. They meet again on the road to London, where her carriage has come to grief in the snow. Yet Phoebe, already caught in one imbroglio, now knows she soon could be well deep in another....

A typically wonderful historical novel, Sylvester shows once more why Georgette Heyer is the undisputed queen of the genre she created - the Regency romance.

    Kurzweilig

Why the hell Matt Addis as reader?

The gravelly, old voice of Matt Adis is really not what one want to hear when a young Regent buck is the hero of the novel.

With this lame, liveless, uninspired narration he can put me to sleep immediately. However, if I wanted to sleep, there was no need to waste a credit and my time! Georgette Heyer's novels describe Regency nobel class in a charming, witty way. The voices must be over the top Oxford English. This makes the fun! A Duchess who speakes the same as her daughter in law and the chamber mate and son in law and God knows who else? There is nearly no distinction at all in this narration! And every one speaks v e r y sloooooooowwwwwly all the time. I am sorry to say that Matt Adis is not the man for this task. Where are the high pitched, hysterical, outraged voices which are so typical for Regency time and nowhere to find in this narration!

I would even prefer a woman narrating the book, if she is able to impersonate this noble class over the top Oxford English. Georgina Sutton for example. No narrator can impersonate such characters as good and ridiculously funny as her. Or Phyllida Nash. She is good too.

Well, I have to give back this audiobook because I am not able to listen to anymore of this. Could not listen to more than 30 min.
