This is a heartwarming story with lovely characters and real struggles.
I listened to The Friend Zone first without knowing that the story is continued in this book. I would suggest to anyone who’s interested in listening to The Happy Ever After Playlist to do the same.

I absolutely LOVED Abby Jimenez' last book 'Just for the Summer', so maybe my expectations were too high.
I did enjoy The Happy Ever After Playlist - the banter and flirting - generally the beginning was fun and enjoyable to read. But there were also a few things I really didn't particularly care for:
1. The insta-love that developed into a nearly codependent relationship.
2. The constant up and down and drama due to miscommunication. I also didn't like how Jason - in the name of "protecting" Sloan - made big decisions without talking to her. Like he knew and decided what was best for her. Really?!
3. The hunting and more generally the display/affirmation of very classic gender roles (see 2.) Not my thing.
4. The big gesture/drama in the end. I get why the author did that but it didn't feel authentic to the characters at all.
5. Lastly, the male voices of the female narrator were annoying and weird. Usually I get used to narrators, but this bothered me until the very last sentence.

All in all: 2-3 stars.
