This book could have done a lot - i.e. re:infertility
Yet, to me it was one more story that solely survived on its main characters not communicating. It often feels so clicheed, on the nose and the story doesn’t just fall flat. I feel like it enforces unrealistic and unhealthy relationship dynamics. I feel like the author has a lot of wit to offer and some aspects are really charming. But in the end I felt like I am told that as a woman, I am only worth as much as I can birth.

I had high hopes for this book but didn’t like the storyline in the end, main character annoyed me quite often and the female narrator wasn’t to my liking either, unfortunately.

So much unnecessary drama. First because of miscommunication that felt staged and annoying and then because they weren’t willing to communicate openly and truthful. God this was exhausting.
I usually love Abby Jimenez‘ books, but this one just wasn’t it. The book also portrayed slightly problematic behavior as desirable, which usually isn’t something she Abby Jimenez does. I think this was one of her first books. The other ones are better. I read all of her books but this series. So maybe just skip this series or at least this book. The rest is amazing and on a Emily Henry level.
