Die Handlung war wie immer gut durchdacht und spannend, hätte jedoch von einer etwas strafferen Erzählweise gewonnen.

Dem dritten Roman ist schwieriger zu folgen als den ersten beiden. Der Anfang ist fulminant, ich werde die Szene wohl nicht so schnell vergessen. Danach kommen die Verstrickungen und erst gegen Ende wird alles klar. Empfehle ich aber trotzdem jedem. Armitage ist wie immer phänomenal.

Ellis story is a bit of everything. From psychodrama to a fair characterisation of life in the Lincolnshire fens. But what makes this book special is Richsrd Armitages brilliant dramatisation of sone fozen characters from all over the UK.

Armitage is amongst they very best

Teil 3 hat mir bislang am Besten gefallen! Und Richard Armitage hat wieder einen phantastischen Job gemacht!!!

Carter McLean verliert bei einem Flugzeugabsturz seine besten Freunde und wird später von Wahnvorstellungen mit Brandgeruch verfolgt. Marie Evans ist an seiner Seite, auch als sie den Stalker von Ruth Crookes Nichte Leah finden sollen. Insgesamt ein bedrohlicher Krimi, auch weil die Frau von Tom Holland, Suzanne, verschwunden ist. Der Pathologe Rory Wilkinson, genial wie immer, löst das Verbrechen und wird von Richard Armitage wieder sehr, sehr überzeugend gelesen. Armitage hat alle Personen entsprechend im Fokus, natürlich auch Laura Archer, die Hilfe von Sam Page bekommt. Richard Armitages Stimme und seine Begabung zum Vorlesen verstärken den spannenden Inhalt! Im Verlauf des Thrillers stellt sich heraus, dass Carters Halluzinationen auf einen Gehirntumor zurück gehen; hier hat die Autorin auf das medizinische Wissen ihrer Partnerin zurückgreifen können. Wirklich gut gemachter Krimi!

Watch out for spoiler if this is your first Joy Ellis book!
Grasping story if it is your first Joy Ellis Jackman. And Evans Book. If it isn’t, then you might wonder why in every of the first three books there is a bent, manipulative or cunning copper.
I really enjoyed listening to this book and couldn’t wait to get to the end and the turn come unexpectedly although I was already a bit wary in regards to the copper, but somehow the ending made me sad. I will try another of her books, but I hope with a different turn and twist!

Grasping story with a turning twist

I loved the first two books in this series. They were light entertainment and helped me to wind down from a busy day.

I really struggled to get through this one though. The story just went on and on. It frustrated me and I am glad that it is over.

The performance was great as always though. Probably the only reason that I kept up with the story.

Very repetitive

After having listened to book 1 and 2 I'm a bit disappointed by this sequel. I was not really captured by the story, it only became exciting towards the end (final hour of the audiobook).

Not as good as the first 2 books of the series
