I could identify with the character cause also had my first (gay) love in a rural and religious surrounding. the author tells this story well, very romantic and authentic, even though sometimes a bit repetitive. The book tells the intensity of first love and the shame and guilt the protagonist feels to a point of denying herself, in the end there's hope to be found.
