Über diesen Titel

On a distant Earth colony, an orphaned survivor of an alien invasion discovers that the greatest world-ending dangers aren’t behind her.

It’s been eight years since an alien invasion drove a small surviving group of settlers to seek refuge in an underground shelter. Cut off from the rest of humanity, the ragtag band has maintained a narrowly functioning colony due to communal effort and salvage runs. Alex Archer has her own duties as a dog handler. While this off-world colony may be harsh, Ash, Alex’s black shepherd raised to sense threats, makes living in it a little nicer.

But the tenuous hide-and-seek with the monstrous species known as the Lankies is about to come to an end for Alex and her close-knit crew of soldiers, techs, and friends. When a salvage operation goes catastrophically wrong, the Lankies home in on the humans.

With hopes of a rescue long faded, all Alex has left is will—and the fear that there’s so much more to lose.

Kritikerstimmen

"Kloos has created a believable universe and a fast-moving story of resilience, rescue, and reintegration that reads like a combination of John Scalzi’s Old Man’s War (2004) and Andy Weir’s The Martian (2014).”Booklist

“Kloos is well on his way to becoming one of the genre’s best assets.”—io9

“There is nobody who does [military science fiction] better than Marko Kloos.”—George R. R. Martin

In order not to spoiler to much here is what I loved in this novel, is the story of a small group of humans who survived the infestion of their planet by Lankies, huge aliens who killed almost all humans on this planet except a small group of humans who not only survived but also managed to sustain themselves by sending out small groups of salvagers who gather food and equipment in the ruins of the destroyed cities. A young woman guards the salvagers together with her dog, to warn them when Lankies approach the group. The novel was thrilling, narrative captivating and compelling… Fans of the Frontline Saga will love this novel but not „only“ them. And Arielle DeLisle did a perfect job Reading the novel, Hope to hear her soon again.

Marko Kloos continues the saga with a new protagonist and new perspective. Where Centers of Gravity felt a bit lackluster, as if he had lost interest in concluding this eight books spanning story. Scorpio delivers a well rounded continuation of the Frontlines series and makes hungry for more!

Great new story from the Lankyverse

story makes little sense, narrator sounds like a mother reading a book to her kids. very disappointing after the original series. won't continue this one

disappointed after the original

Feels more like a teenie highschool story. Had hard time to stick to the story. Gets better to the middle.

Starts slow, nice middle, slow end

Not his best work but not his worst either. The narrator is talented but not the right choice for a military story.

Didn’t get started until the very end
