Great second part to Magnus Chase

Wer Fantasy mag, muss 7ss Rick Riordan meiner Meinung nach lieben. Ich zumindest tue es. Die Geschichte reiht sich fantastisch in die Reihe ein, am Ende gibt es ein viel versprechendes Wiedersehen mit einer alten Bekannten und überhaupt kann ich den dritten Teil kaum erwarten. Der Sprecher ist gut. Seine Stimmvariationen sind abwechslungsreich und geben jedem Charakter eine eigene Gestalt. manchmal finde ich ihn etwas schnell, was es erschwert, ihm und hin und wieder zu folgen. Aber davon abgesehen, eine wirklich gelungene Produktion!

These books are so much fun. I adore Alex and love how we learn more about Hearth.

Personally I’m not too fond of the reader but that is entirely subjective. I prefer slower readings with deeper voices which help me to concentrate and follow better.
English is however not my first language anyways so that probably plays a part in my preference.

Mit dem Buch, "Magnus Chase and the Hammer of Thor" kehrt der Autor Rick Riordan, zu seinen Wurzeln zurück, was mir persönlich sehr gut gefällt. Wer die Percy Jackson Reihe kennt, der erinnert sich daran, dass man so ziemlich jedem der Bücher, zumindest grob eine bestimmte antike Legende zuordnen konnte: Perseus, Odysseus, Herakles...
Dies ist auch bei diesem Buch der Fall, welches sich, ohne zu viel zu spoilern, um die Suche nach Thors Hammer dreht. Die Geschichte ist actionreich und lustig, ohne dabei flach zu werden, verlässt aber leider auch nicht das für den Autor „sichere" Gebiet. Schade, ich habe das Gefühl, da wäre mehr Potential gewesen.
Ich muss gestehen, dass ich von dem ersten Buch der „Magnus Chase" Reihe nicht begeistert war, was nicht zuletzt daran lag, dass ich dem Helden nicht viel abgewinnen konnte. Auch in diesem Buch sind es vor allem die Nebencharaktere, welche das Buch hörenswert machten, vor allem der neuer Charakter Alex Fierro wertet das Buch merklich auf. Bitte mehr von Alex im nächsten Buch.

Abzüge gibt es leider für Kieran Culkin, er liest nicht schlecht, es ist gut verständlich, aber schafft es in meinen Augen nicht im gleichen Maße den Figuren „Charakter" zu geben wie viele andere sehr gute Sprecher, die ich bei Audible bereits hören durfte.

Alles in allem in der Englischen ungekürzten Fassung hörenswert.

Am Anfang kam mir der Sprecher sehr langsam vor. Aber ich hab mich dann daran gewöhnt. Das Buch ist, wie alle aus der Reihe, super!!

I honestly don't know what's going on. Why is he talking so fast?! The voice, even slowed to 0.95, is difficult to listen to. It's a scratchy voice. Not pleasant at all. Honestly I've never had to mess with the speed before. The last book had to be made faster. And this one had to be made slower. I feel so bad for Rick Riordan...honestly, they made a mess of his films..why are the audiobooks being messed up now too?

The book altogether is okay I would say, but the change in reader on every book makes it annoying to listen to it. Especially since the reader in the sounds like he is always in a rush and needs to get the sentence out as soon as possible.
What I also don't like about the book is the way Rick Riordan changed in comparison to the first two series. All the gods are presented as idiots without any consequences for people disrespecting them.
The writer seems to care more about a respectful representation of Allah in the form Sam instead of making the effort to show the norse gods and their traditions and myths in a meaningful way.
Also the whole LGBT representation is done in a horrible way. I liked how he showed and described Nico in the other series but in this book Alex is super annoying and every time she is part of the group the author spends like 2-3 minutes on what she defines at right now and how Magnus is confused and all this. He also does not make the effort to really position Alex as a believable character. She just gets to Valhalla and is pretty much on par with everyone else and does not need to train or adjust.
