Little fires everywhere is very much a story about what it means to be a mother or what makes a person a mother. The first half was rather tiring - the end nearly made up for it. This book is for everyone who enjoys a good family drama.

Ich wollte tatsächlich aufhören und habe dann eine der hiesigen Rezensionen gelesen und weiter gehört. Es nimmt dann ab einem gewissen Punkt richtig Fahrt auf und wird sehr spannend. Die Sprecherin ist wunderbar. Tolled Hörerlebnis. Tolle Story. Anfangs langsam dann immer schneller

Was für eine wunderbare Erzählung! Mia ist zwar das äußere Zentrum der Geschichte, aber es geht um den mehr oder auch mal weniger respektvollen Umgang innerhalb einer Familie, die zu zerbrechen droht, obwohl die Lebensbedingungen perfekt für ein glückliches Leben miteinander scheinen. Nur der Ende kam mir zu abrupt - aber vielleicht gibt es eine Fortsetzung?

Wer The Corrections von Frenzen mochte, wird dieses Hörbuch lieben.
Spannend und poetisch beschrieben, bangt man mit den unterschiedlichsten Familienmitgliedern und Wahlverwandtschaften darum, ob sie das stille Glück der Zugehörigkeit finden werden, oder es verloren geben. Ein spannendes Buch über Liebe von Eltern zu Kindern, Wahlverwandtschaften, Stolz, Selbstverwirklichung und Emanzipation, und die Macht des moralischen Kompass.

It may have started a little slow but loved the story. and the characters - they were all well presented and for one to relate to all of their feelings and beings. leaves you understanding all of them and their points of view.

This book is the best I have listened to in such a long time. The underlying issues, the common theme- motherhood - is such an entangled motif.... this Book is truly a masterpiece in my opinion

Beautifully read too

Breathtakingly beautiful

I got so hooked to this slow, subtle, wonderful story that I could not stop listening anymore. Celeste Ng depicts the characters of several families in Shaker Heights to perfection, managing to give the reader a perfect picture without ever falling back on crude description. This is a very moving story, but not in the sense of some soap opera or cheap drama, but in the way the characters unfold, interact, help or hurt each other, and become ridiculous or hateful or loveable, but always stay very human. I can only recommend this book very warmly.
