The three stories are quite interesting, but overall it lacked to me some deeper interpretation or insights. The overall tone and way of telling is quite saddening.

Very honest but sensual

The intimate stories of 3 women are expertly explored. Lisa Taddeo no doubt did an excellent job of researching and the writing was excellent - she managed to give each woman a distinctive voice without judging. For me, the most moving part was Maggie’s story who had been so in love with her teacher, and so badly let down. However, I found the whole concept of the book strange - sex was the one thing that held the book together? The connection with the author’s dead mother? It didn’t come together for me. The story of Maggie alone would have made a good book, all 3 together seemed jumbled.

Not quite sure what to make of this...

The ending may not please us, may not be what we want to read, but - especially as women - what we have to know. I loved it, even if it made me sad and angry at times.
