Am relevantesten
King's "Holly" is a good read, maybe a bit slow sometimes, set during COVID times. Holly's character really shines, and the story keeps you hooked. The audiobook is a real treat - Justine Lupe narrates it, and she also played Holly in the "Mr. Mercedes" TV show. This gives you a full Holly experience, like she's telling you her own story.

... spannend, fesselnd, ein wenig überraschend - und sehr angenehm und gut gelesen, ich freue mich auf die deutsche Version mit David Nathan.

Der Titel macht es klar, es geht um Holly Gibney, die ich seit der ersten "Begegnung" richtig lieb gewonnen habe. Diesmal, soviel darf man spoilern, geht es nicht um Bestien in Menschengestalt, sondern um menschliche Bestien. Das macht den Horror aber nicht geringer, eher im Gegenteil.

This is a great crime novel with cruel villains and a sweet and strong main character. Justine Lupe, who also played the main character Holly on TV, is a great narrator as well.

I loved this book. Justine Lupe does a great job reading the audiobook. She doesn't give Holly a weird speech pattern that only ends up being annoying to suffer through. She simply reads her lines normally which is especially appreciated considering Holly has by far the most lines of dialogue in this. A great choice. What stood out to me was how Holly confronted her relationship with her mother in this book. It was a representation of emotional abuse and gaslighting that I could identify with and I gotta give props to King for including this part of Holly's life as something that continues to cause her great pain but also shaped her into a strong person with clear boundaries.

The story is great. Nothing supernatural, just plain cannibalism. At times a bit disgusting, but well told.
The narration needs some getting used to, especially if you liked the "old" Holly. The new Holly is much more modern and could have been read a bit more supple. Still good, though.
