Was mochten Sie an der Handlung am liebsten?

Es ist, wie immer bei Stephen King, das Unerwartete, das hinter jeder Seite lauert und den Leser (Hörer) überfällt und fesselt. Grandios erzählte Geschichte einer Dichterwitwe, die sich mit einem sehr unheimlichen Feind auseinandersetzen muss.

Hat Ihnen Mare Winningham an der Geschichte etwas vermittelt, was Sie vielleicht beim Selberlesen gar nicht bemerkt hätten?

Sie liest so angenehm und auch mit wunderbarer Modulation, ich finde es schade, dass es so wenige Bücher gibt, die von ihr eingelesen wurden.

Wenn Sie dieses Hörbuch verfilmen könnten wie würde der Slogan dazu lauten?

Sie verliert einen Mann und gewinnt einen Feind....

Was wäre für andere Hörer sonst noch hilfreich zu wissen, um das Hörbuch richtig einschätzen zu können?

Zum Einschlafen ist dieses Buch nicht geeignet, da man atemlos vor Spannung ist. Viel eher taugt es bei langen Autofahrten, denn langweilig wird einem dabei nie.

It's strange to have a King without an open end. The plot is very complicated playing in the past, the past before past, and the present and started being boring. It took me some efforts to get through the beginning. But the book gains speed in the second half and even includes a psychopath who nonetheless does not play a very central role. Really annoying was the use of song titles and singers never heard of outside the USA before.

A very suspenseful read, the book hooked me from the beginning. It is the story of a widow, coping with the loss of her husband. In the course of the book she tells about her marriage, her husband, his childhood. An excellent Stephen King novel, if not his best to date. Mare Winningham does an wonderful job of narrating, giving not only the various characters in the novel distinctly different voices but also mastering the sometimes very different dialects of the characters.
