Excellent
The more I read of Emily St. John Mandel the more I love her style. My wife just said: "You just believe her everything". And that's the point: The characters are the complicated, torn, contradictory beings humans are, they are believable. "Nothing is just black or white", Anton's mother says in a pivotal dialogue. But in the end, after playing a dozen times with surprising the reader with just another twist in the question of moral integrity, she decides to paint some a lot brighter and others a lot darker. Though it is true that some things can and have to be judged, that you have to decide at certain points, it is somehow sad that she finally gives answers.
