Moorcock endlich bei Audible
Die Geschichte von Elric von Melnibone Teil 1 endlich als Hörbuch bei Audible.
Guter Sprecher (Englisch) und gute Romane des Elric Story Arcs in der richtigen Reihenfolge.

The original White Wolf...
The original Dragon Empire... the original Gods of Chaos... all inspired by this book, or one might say stolen from it apparently. More than one fantasy universe has it's roots here. A must read.

I know why so many stole from Moorcock
Moorcock is referenced by a lot of well known SF and Fantasy writers as their hero and inspiration. And I think I know why: They must have thought:"I can do that way better." I feel like this is written more as a legend from old ages and less as a fantasy novel. As such it presents lots of archetypes like sorcery, dragons, magic, multiverses, multiple plains of existence, god's, anti-gods, demons etc. and at last the ultimate antihero who not only loathes his fate but by leaving his set role as king of and ancient superrace brings his fate into being. Good to know the roots but a pleasant read for me it was not. The narrator did his best, while letting his accent sometimes get the better of him, but for me this the end of Elrics saga.

Excellent! Can’t believe I never heard of these!
I actually started this because Niel Gaimon’s name is on it and I love him. I am not sure what he has to do with this story at all. I don’t think there was a foreword by him… The first part (a chapter or 2 i think?) about a kid obsessed with Michael Moorcock and the Elric books is odd and not connected well. The actual saga books are amazing and the reader does an excellent job! I cannot believe I had never heard of these books! Now I have to read the other volumes but they aren’t on audible (yet?)! :(

Appallingly badly read
The actor reading this manages to misplace nearly every accent and ruin the natural flow of language so thoroughly, I found this very difficult to listen to without gnashing my teeth in frustration and will avoid the series until (hopefully) someone more experienced is found.

Great story (for the 70s), sort of annoying voice
Almost all characters are given the same sort of Scottish(?) piratey(?) accent. Took quite some enjoyment out of the experience

Life is too short for daft stories
The storyline is very opaque and inconsistent. There was not enough tension to keep my interest going so I didn’t finish it. There are so many better books waiting out there! The reader’s voice also soon became irritating.
