ADB did it again. What a work of art. Gripping throughout. The ending was sad, melodramatic and well crafted ans in my eyes perfect.

Beneath the usual dramatic battles and events in warhammer books the emperor himself speaks to explain his thoughts and reasoning.
These parts are both fascinating and breath taking. Definitely one of the more interesting books of the Horus Heresy Saga!

Great story, rare insights into the emperor and custodes! Especially during a time, when Horus is incoming soon.

My favourite book of the series up onto now

Ein Fehler ist aufgetreten. Bitte versuche es in ein paar Minuten noch einmal.
An inside perspective into the custodes, the Emperor's past and why he is absent from the war. Voice acting by Jonathan Keeble is perfectly on point and delivers strong emotions. I especially liked the Mechanicus characters and their motivations.
A weak part for me was the last quarter before the finale, which lacked clear focus and pacing.

Good Horus Heresy listen, but a bit tedious at times. Jonathan Keeble’s narration performance however is extraordinary and keeps the story plots going.
