The final volume sees gunslinger Roland on a roller-coaster mix of exhilarating triumph and aching loss in his unrelenting quest to reach the dark tower.

Roland's band of pilgrims remains united, though scattered. Susannah-Mia has been carried off to New York to give birth, Terrified of what may happen, Jake, Father Callahan and Oy follow.

Roland and Eddie are in Maine, looking for the site which will lead them to Susannah. As he finally closes in on the tower, Roland's every step is shadowed by a terrible and sinister creation. And finally, he realises, he may have to walk the last dark strait alone...

You've come this far, Come a little farther, Come all the way, The sound you hear may be the slamming of the door behind you. Welcome to The Dark Tower.

Kritikerstimmen

King's magnificent uberstory is finally complete... King's achievement is startling; his characters fresh... his plot sharply drawn... It is magic.

With the surprising twist at the end of this novel, King completes the epic tale in an epic manner. This story goes beyond the compelling writing of an accomplished author. It moves easily across genres, languages, times and narratives, drawing the picture of modern humanity, lost in the abstract quest that turns out to be meaningless without the ultimate submission to humanity, love and friendship.

Ive spent so much time on this series, and I really liked it, up until the last book, which was really bad ... I even stopped reading / listening because it was so disgusting for more than a year. I finally pushed through it to get to the end. And the end is a joke ... do not recommend.

what a shame
