And even aside from that, the book has everything to make you want to dislike it: horrible pacing, tedious ever-repeating inner monologues that never lead to any development, even after the major plot twists, fake "representation" by making the protagonists basically holding up a sign of their identiy instead of making it feel like they are actually living it, plot advancement almost exclusively happens the way it happens in bad tv writing: characters discover new abilities and super powers just in time to get the author out of a bind, ...
