Enjoyed listening to it most of the way through and found many insightful and inspiring approaches and leadership advice that resonated with me. Sometimes a bit too lengthy /much detail into specific experiences for my liking. Have recommended it to folks and will continue to do so

Leadership advice for companies who want to focus

While Slootman grew up in Europe, his experience in Leadership is from US companies and taking 3 of them public. That results in a beautiful leadership style best described as an amalgam of directness and no BS. While you sometime miss the former in the US you often miss the latter in Europe.

With his experience spanning 3 companies he can draw succinct distinctions that make for very good insights and Aha moments for readers.

Great read in a time where lots of founders long for a more radical (lat. radix = back to the roots) startup approach: less fancy offices, more getting work done mentality. And closely follow how Elon Musk trims Twitter back to a core team with a mission to develop new technology, not managing stuff.

I learned a ton listening to Franks detailed stories. This is a must read for any person eager to get the full picture of SaaS companies, their struggles and how to get them to the next level.

Interesting

I am fascinated about how old fashioned leadership claims to be future proof leadership and still leads to results in KPIs of the past. I highly respect the candidness of the writer and I am impressed by his accomplishments in the currencies of the old economy. I however strive for a definition of success that goes beyond pure growth of business metrics.
The promise of the book is not matching the content. It is a business biography that - although stated differently by the author in the end - feels like a single option for success, told by an authority who feels the urge to be followed.
