Über diesen Titel
Reviews prior to 1/2/25 relate to a previous recording with the same narrator.
One of fantasy’s finest next-generation storytellers continues to break new ground.
Michael J. Sullivan’s trailblazing career began with the breakout success of his Riyria series: full-bodied, spellbinding fantasy adventures whose imaginative scope and sympathetic characters won a devoted readership and comparisons to fantasy masters Brandon Sanderson, Scott Lynch, and J.R.R. Tolkien himself. Now Age of Myth inaugurates an original six-book series.
Since time immemorial, humans have worshipped the gods they call Fhrey, truly a race apart: invincible in battle, masters of magic, and seemingly immortal. But when a god falls to a human blade, the balance of power between humans and those they thought were gods changes forever.
Now only a few stand between humankind and annihilation: Raithe, reluctant to embrace his destiny as the God Killer; Suri, a young seer burdened by signs of impending doom; and Persephone, who must overcome personal tragedy to lead her people. The Age of Myth is over. The time of rebellion has begun.
Magic, fantasy, and mythology collide in Michael J. Sullivan’s Legends of the First Empire series:
- Age of Myth
- Age of Swords
- Age of War
- Age of Legend
- Age of Death
- Age of Empyre

There narrator is good with multiple voices, but doesn't separate thoughts from normal voices, leading to minor confusion in places.
Good start

Was hat Ihnen am allerbesten an Age of Myth gefallen?
Decent plotlines, intriguing yet obscure magics - impending crisis. It needs to be seen how this tale is continued. The conflict portrayed in the first book evolved from a one dimensional David vs Goliath concept to a multilayered one.
Looking forward to the next release - how this base is built on.
Indeed multiple characters have been introduced with extraordinary potential plotwise!
Wait and see...
Solid start into the series

Nevron seems to be plotting, Malcom as well, but neither perspective was told in the book. The narrating characters are all easily manipulated, naive or helplessly in love. That makes the reader get to the necessary conclusions faster than the characters. Seriously no-one suspected what really happened with the "bear". The problem with Persephone might also be her age, intelligence and experience in politics. She should be disillusioned and cynical instead of blindly believing.
The whole book lacks a bit of the Riyria charm and humor and replaces it with more generic characters.
Don't misunderstand me the book is still very good especially if you already know the Riyria books and I have some hope in Nevron becoming a narrating character and Persephone growing up.
Tim Gerald Reynolds was brilliant as always.
Nice start

Be under no illusion. This book on its own is decent, but it is easily the best book out of the series. It is only downhill from here and the more the scope of the story expands, the more glaring it's issues become.
If you enjoy books that are 70% melodramatic romance with actively devolving characters, sudden plot-driving idiocy, actively devolving characters, sudden reveals of character actually being superhuman and other characters going from untrained to the best at what they're doing within a few months, knock yourself out.
If you want more details, read the negative reviews for each installment. I'll drink myself into a stupor to hopefully forget this idiotic mess.
Ah, yes... and the performance of the narrator is good.
A warning to those getting into this series
