Ich muss echt sagen, das war ein wundervolles Hörbucherlebnis. Die Geschichte, die Emotionen, die Sprecher, einfach toll! Ganz besonders Meg Sylvan hat so viel Emotion und Kraft in der Stimme und haucht der Protagonistin so Leben ein.

She was actually the one who was Supposed to kill him and fell in love with him instead. that's understandable and I'm happy for her even if she sometimes makes pretty stupid decisions that's okay. but holy shit the end at first you think her only and therefore best friend has betrayed her, only to then find out that the fucking husband kidnapped her and then tortured and starved her for about a month only to then confess everything and beg for forgiveness I mean, I have more honor than that. I understand her wanting revenge for the death of the family that's a better justification than torturing your own new wife for a job wtf dud I've got something more disgusting pig, he said several times "I love you..." he had sex with her there are limits at least kidnap her while you haven't done anything sexual with her

Just a rant about the Ending (Spoiler!!!!!)

I am still not sure how i feel about this one.. it took me a bit to get into it, then i got captivated quickly by the story line, i did expect a bit more action which may start in the second book..

Not what i expected

The story is engaging and easy to listen to. It is very interesting to hear of the different magical beings and what their characteristics are. However, the worldbuilding could be fleshed out a little more, to make the story more immersive.
Sadly, the inner monologues of the protagonists are rather repetitive. Moreover, it is really hard to understand the choices the FMC makes.
So much so, that it is almost comical when she describes herself as a „rather intelligent woman.“

Gefühlt ging das Hörbuch eine halbe Ewigkeit.
Zu Beginn war ich noch begeistert, dass die Geschichte eine mordende FMC hatte, leider hat sich herausgestellt, dass sie die ganze Zeit nur jammert.
Zwei Drittel der Geschichte drehen sich, meines Empfindens nach, nur um die FMC und ihr geheule, dass der MMC ihre komplette Familie ermordet hat, aber er doch sooooo heiß und toll ist. Ich kann es gar nicht so recht fassen, dass sie, sobald sie dessen Stimme hört, total hin und weg von ihm ist. Fast vergessen ist die ermordete Familie, die sich aber zwischendurch wieder ins Gedächtnis gerufen wird nur um sogleich wieder über den MMC zu schmachten. So unglaublich dumm, mir ist es auch egal, dass die beiden "vermutlich" irgendeine tiefere Bindung haben, es kann doch nicht so schwer sein eine charakterstarke FMC zu schreiben, die wenigstend etwas mehr dagegen ankämpft. SJM und Jay Kristoff zeigen doch wie es geht.
Der MMC ist in Ordnung, und die Sprecher sind auch okay.
Das Ende und der Cliffhanger haben mich nicht überrascht, war vorauszusehen.
