Über diesen Titel

What is wrong meets what feels right in this romance set in Italy by the Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling author of Deep End.

Maya Killgore is twenty-three and still in the process of figuring out her life.

Conor Harkness is thirty-eight, and Maya cannot stop thinking about him.

It's such a cliché, it almost makes her heart implode: older man and younger woman; successful biotech guy and struggling grad student; brother's best friend and the girl he never even knew existed. As Conor loves to remind her, the power dynamic is too imbalanced. Any relationship between them would be problematic in too many ways to count, and Maya should just get over him. After all, he has made it clear that he wants her gone from his life.

But not everything is as it seems - and clichés sometimes become plot twists.

When Maya's brother decides to get married in Taormina, she and Conor end up stuck together in a romantic Sicilian villa for over a week. There, on the beautiful Ionian coast, between ancient ruins, delicious foods, and natural caves, Maya realizes that Conor might be hiding something from her. And as the destination wedding begins to erupt out of control, she decides that a summer fling might be just what she needs - even if it's a problematic one.

It's officially Problematic Summer

I like reading Ali‘s books. They are witty and wholesome and just what you want for a quiet day.
However, the female speaker took me really out of the story. She reads so fast, sometimes seemingly stumbles over paragraph breaks. I didn’t know whether what the character said was out loud or internal. There was no difference there. At some point I actually got the ebook to read along and suddenly things made much more sense.
I also adore Eric Nolan as a voice actor. But for this one his accents seemed a bit off when he was not speaking as Conor. I think he didn’t believe himself when he was speaking and that shows in his performance.
The editing is also not that great. Whenever two characters have a shared line and interrupt each other, there’s a huge break inbetween as if they were waiting for the other. That just does not go! You have to fix these things in the edit.

So all in all a wonderful book with shoddy editing and voicing.

Wonderful story, sadly not such a good voice actress

I loved all books by Ali Hazelwood, maybe „Not in love“ the least, but this one is outstanding. Wonderful well developed characters, beautiful scenery and such a yummy slow burn.
especially the FMC is like a breath of fresh air.
Loved everything about. The narrators did a fabulous job too. I know mimick an irish accent casually which leaves my family confused.
Anyway, the downside is, that Hazelwood set the bar so high that there is nothing comparable out there to read.

OMG
