Über diesen Titel

Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Wars of the Roses: Trinity, the second instalment in Conn Iggulden's thrilling Wars of the Roses trilogy.

1454: King Henry VI has remained all but exiled in Windsor Castle, struck down by his illness for over a year, his eyes vacant, his mind a blank. His fiercely loyal wife and Queen, Margaret of Anjou, safeguards her husband's interests, hoping that her son Edward will one day know the love of his father.

Richard Duke of York, Protector of the Realm, extends his influence throughout the kingdom with each month that Henry slumbers. The Earls of Salisbury and Warwick make up a formidable trinity with Richard, and together they seek to break the support of those who would raise their colours in the name of Henry and his Queen. But when the King unexpectedly recovers his senses and returns to London to reclaim his throne, the balance of power is once again thrown into turmoil.

The clash of the Houses of Lancaster and York will surely mean a war to tear England apart . . .

Really enjoyed this and the previous Wars Of The Roses books from Colm Iggulden. A great storyteller. I appreciate the historical notes at the end, which definitely are needed to redress a few liberties taken with the events and timeline. My only beef was showing Margaret of Anjou at Sandal on 1460 and claiming in the notes that it is "unknown" whether she was there or not, whether she ordered that famous paper crown for York's head. I'd be interested to know why this is considered unknown. I've read many histories and contemporary sources and almost all now accept she was not there. At least bear in mind that Shakespeare's version has this scene almost verbatim and should not be taken as fact! But overall, without my excitement about unproven statements, an enthralling listen.

Enjoyable

Great story where fiction is mixed with historic facts. Few people manage this as well as Conn Iggulden. The reader of this audiobook does an excellent job!
