Finally something entertaining

I've been in a sequence of bad luck and I'm happy to say this book did not disappoint. The main character is well built, and some of her questionable reactions can be explained by the fact of half her life was spent in prison. I would have enjoyed a bit more world building, but maybe we get more on the next books? As for the narrators, sometimes I didn't understand if the characters were thinking or speaking, but they did a good job overall. I'm happy that the first book was free, I might not have picked it up otherwise (and I'm off to buying the next one now!).

Well that was something

I started this book because it was all over booktok. Everyone kept saying how great it is. I listened to the complete book and now I’ve begun the second. It’s a weird ride.
The speakers are okay. I like the guy who voices the prince. He does a great job.
The characters are a bit flat. The prince still sort of being the most interesting character. The female protagonist is called Lor and good lord does she go on my nerves in a few scenes. Here and there she’s over dramatic. Sometimes she’s just plain dumb and not thinking straight. Overall she’s fun, feral and has a big attitude. So that makes up for it. I hate how she adores that ridiculous sun king though. He’s a real pain in the ass.
I love Sarah J Maas books and kind of felt like it was similar to A Court of Thornes and Roses. Especially towards the end.
The story itself is good. The only thing that kind of kills it, is the poor writing. It reads like a bad Wattpad Fanfiction from time to time. So there’s that. And if it’s not your first read in this genre, you figure out the ending and all the twists to come way to early. This leaves you without fun surprises or any real suspense.
All in all the book is alright. Like I said, it still has my attention and I began the second book, but it’s more out of curiosity of where the story might go rather than being totally in love with the book.

Toller Auftakt, der neugierig auf mehr macht

Mir hat das Buch sehr gut gefallen. Im hinteren Drittel habe ich dann auch die ACOTAR-Ähnlichkeit gesehen :D hier ein paar Stichpunkte
+ tolle Protagonistin, gut nachvollziehbar sowohl bei ihren Gefühlen als auch bei der Interaktion mit anderen.
+ kurzweilige Geschichte, zwar mit ein paar vorhersehbaren Aspekten, aber das hat mich nicht gestört
(-) ich hätte mir zwischen den einzelnen Prüfungen ein bisschen mehr aus ihrem Alltag oder dem Training gewünscht, aber da bin ich vielleicht einfach von SJ Maas verwöhnt
(-) der männliche Sprecher war nicht ganz meins, evtl wechsle ich für den nächsten Teil auf die deutsche Version

Unterm Strich: ich glaube das ist der Beginn einer super Reihe und ich werde mich gleich morgen auf den zweiten Band stürzen <3

manchmal ein wenig vorhersehbar, aber trotzdem unterhaltsam

Der männliche Sprecher ist leider oft schlecht zu verstehen.
Die Geschichte an sich ist gut, ich überlege den zweiten Teil zu hören.

Absolutely loved this

It’s on the same level as a Court of Thorns and Roses for me. Deeefinitly get this book if you like the Sarah J. Maas books. This one is topic wise similar but the story is completely seperate and I loved it. Instantly bought the second book as well🐥

The story develops a little too slow for my taste, now and then it got a little boring. Nevertheless it was entertaining and I want to listen to the next book.

Intriguing story

The story leaves a lot of questions. The story for this book went fast. We got to the action fairly quickly eventhough we don’t get to the romance quick i didn’t mind.
The fmc is amazing. She is scrappy and doesn’t give up. But doesn’t have the super strength or special skills a lot of the other women have in these type of books. She get’s by on sheer determination and will. And i love it. You get swept up in the drama and don’t want to stop. The decription of the book is def correct. It is a little like the bachelor at moments but with deadly consecuences. It was at times like thrashy television with an edge and i loved it. Deffinitly would read again and can not wait to listen to rest of the series.

Speaker pacing was off / Story okay

Somehow, the pacing between the two speakers was off. I had to listen to her at 1.4 or 1.5 speed and him at 1.2 at most. This hindered my listening enjoyment a bit.
The story is alright. The ideas weren't new and the storyline rather predictable, but a good comfort audiobook nevertheless.
