There’s always something you haven’t expected. This time I was so sure, that I had discovered the murderer, but in the end there was another unexpected twist.
I also love how Bridget and her team develop. This time it’s the big wedding at the end… can’t wait how their personal life will change..

95% perfect. I didn’t like the final solution, but that doesn’t diminish the fact that it’s a very enjoyable audio mystery.
Also very pleasant performance by the speaker.

As I often read aloud to others I can appreciate the skills of Esther Wane. Fantastic!

Best speaker ever

I don't even mind the highly predictable plot so much - but the characters were so annoying and just plain dumb I grew increasingly angry. New addition Amy only made things worse - she's decribed at two points by other characters as a sensible person who wouldn't do anything stupid - but how little the others seem to know her! Her bubbly personality and naiveté made me want to slap her (and she didn't even seem to know how to handle old books - as a librarian at the Bodleian). And don't get me started on Bridget who fits every bad stereotype about what "middle-aged" women are supposedly like: constantly stuggling to get it all done - job, motherhood, etc. (but failing all the time); constantly worrying about her diet (but always eating unhealthily and drinking red wine); and so on... Isn't it charming and endearing??? No, it's not, it's clichéd and annoying. She's worried that her daughter might develop an eating disorder because of her stepmother-to-be - yet not realising that her own obsessiveness with her figure is probably a lot more harmful?! She's constantly failing her own high standards - but keeps setting them anew anyway?!
And the way everything (for the protagonists) is tied up nicely within the last ten minutes (literally) was just too much - good riddance to a series which had such a promising start!

Bad end for an ultimately dissatisfying series

Boring, boring, boring. Did I mention that it was BORING?!

I quite enjoyed the rest of the series, but this last entry was just awful. Couldn't even finish it.

Es war schon bei den früheren Büchern dieser Serie sehr offensichtlich, dass sich die Autoren Agatha Christie zum Vorbild genommen hatten. Dieses Mal ermitteln Bridget Hart und ihr Team also im Dort und es trieft von Klischees: die böse Hexe (ermordet), der nervöse Vikar und seine wirre Frau, der (beerdigte) alte Squire, dessen unangenehmer Sohn, seine Haushälterin und der Gärtner, der Pub und seine originellen Stammgäste....

Es ist einfach zu viel! Außerdem scheinen die Autoren die Serie mit diesem Buch beenden zu wollen, da die Protagonisten seriell Happy-Ends erfahren. Hätte mehr sein können.
