Niall Ferguson is a historian with strong convictions which as often as not run against the mainstream. In the "War of the World" he represents a wealth of new (at least for me) and mostly quite personal sources and though he nudges the reader / listener to his own opinions with all this material you are in a good position to decide for yourself.
The part about racism in the 3rd Reich is brillant and shows the total absurdity of the Nazi ideology.
Saul Reichlin as reader was a loveable choice.

Obwohl es durchaus informativ ist und Sinn macht, sich mit Büchern auseinanderzusetzen, die einzelne Ereignisse gezielt analysieren, wie "Die Schlafwandler", ist ein solches Werk, das die Ereignisse eines Jahrhunderts miteinander verknüpft, mindestens genauso wichtig. Die Fülle der Ereignisse erklärt daher auch die Länge des Buches.
