I'm so glad that Dr Downs chose to read the book himself for audible, as unlike some of audible's voice actors he is literate enough to read the words. I found the content of this book to be illuminating and informative. It is definitely one worth revisiting multiple times if you are a gay man. I recently also purchased the eBook to do just that.

third time reading this title. First 2 times on a hard copy and now on audio book version.
it's amazing how every single time I read this book I got new insights. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in growth, healing and self-development. At moments, it brought me to tears, but also relief. I will certainly read it again.

Das Buch ist etwas aus der Zeit gefallen. Ich kann mich mit dem im Buch beschriebenen Typus eines schwulen Mannes so gut wie gar nicht identifizieren, ebenso wie ich die meisten meiner schwulen Freunde nicht so sehen würde. Vielleicht trifft es wirklich nur auf schwule Männer jenseits der 40 zu, die es wahrhaftig schwerer hatten als Schwule in der heutigen Zeit.

Book about personal responsibility and growth as a gay person. Easy to listen to. But is limited to authors psychological practice and circle of friends. All characters appear to be homogeneous - white and upper middle class. Also there are no research papers linked.
