This audiobook was fascinating! I could hardly stop myself from listening to it in one sitting. Jon Ronson was very pleasant to listen to as always. I highly recommend this book!

Really enjoyable listen on a fascinating topic. I'm a fan of Jon Ronson's journalism, he delivers his investigations in a very interesting and often humourous way. Really stimulates thought on this topic through his experiences with different people.

Writing as a non native speaker of English. Found it bit hard to follow in the audio version, as in some parts, there are a lot of names dropped and quick changes between them. For instance that chapter "The man who faked madness". Had to listen to parts of this chapter 4 or more times because without paying very close attention to who was talking about whom, I missed relevant hints and got lost repeatedly. Besides this, the way the author speaks lacks a bit of bandwidth/variability, at least for me, which made it additionally hard to preserve focus sometimes. Everything sounds somewhat similar in the way it's read and I sometimes struggled to determine whether the authors position was positive, negative or neutral by the way things were presented (example: those passages about Scientology in the beginning).
However, the content itself is interesting. I guess I'd prefer the book version over the audio version though if I had to buy it again.
