Yes he can...
Ich habe das Hörbuch gekauft, um einen Eindruck von dem Mann zu bekommen, jenseits der Fassade, wie sie die Medien präsentieren, vor allem auf Grund der Tatsache, dass er das Buch selber liest und seine Intentionen so viel besser vermittelt, als es ein Vorleser könnte.Mein Eindruck ist sehr einfach: das Buch ist schlicht beeindruckend. Und es gibt nicht nur ein Bild wieder, man nimmt nicht nur passiv eine Ideen- und Meinungssammlung auf, sondern Barack Obama vermittelt grundlegende Ideen und Denkansätze, aber auch grundlegende humanitäre Prinzipien. Das Buch regt zum Nachdenken an, es ist nicht nur eine Biographie, sondern ein Konzept. Und es ist glaubwürdig: nicht, weil es von Barack Obama kommt. Sondern weil die Gedanken in einen Werdegang eingebunden sind, nicht abgehobene Ideen eines weltfremden Philosophen, sondern handfeste Übereugungen, die sich nicht nur in Barack Obamas Leben, sondern in jedem seiner Leser zu Prinzipien des eigenen Handelns und der eigenen Verantwortung machen lassen.Ich kann dieses Buch uneingeschränkt empfehlen, zur Unterhaltung, weil es wirklich gut aufgebaut und vorgelesen wird, aber auch zur Information, und nicht zuletzt zum Nachdenken.

Wirklich gut
Ein sehr klares Englisch, schöne klare Stimme und vom Inhalt her zeigt es einen sehr menschlichen und mit seinem Land engagierten Menschen und Politiker. Er will uns nichts verkaufen, sondern erklärt seine Stellungnahmen selbstkritisch. Empfehlenswert.

Politisch und persönlich
Neben der scharfsinnigen und reflektierten, mit Bildung und Erfahrung fundierten Analyse politischer und gesellschaftlicher Prozesse der Gegenwart beweist Obama narratives Talent, etwa durch die Wiedergabe von Szenen oder den Gebrauch treffender Bildsprache, und Mut zum Privaten, die mich überrascht haben.
Genau so hörenswert wie sein erstes Buch "Tales from my father", in dem er seine ungewöhnliche Lebensgeschichte erzählt.
Stimme und Lesefluss sind extrem angenehm und auch hier überrascht das darstellerische Talent, wenn der damalige Senator auch mal Dialekte imitiert.
