This book is not only brilliantly written, but also, the narration is absolutely awesome. There are so many twists and turns, mysteries to be solved and adventures to keep you up all night (literally in my case, I couldn't stop listening). The characters areall wonderfully fleshed out and unique, and the first person POV is full of snark and fun, making the MC so loveable that you keep rooting for him all the way through. I mean, what's not to like about a man who can humbly admit when he's in the wrong? A very human hero with honour, but not without flaws or morally grey areas. This book is a delight and I'm looking forward to number two in the series!

Brilliant story!

Der Erzähler macht seine Sache sehr gut: angenehme sonore Stimme, ruhige Sprechweise.
Die Geschichte ist leider nicht so gut. Allvater Odin rekrutiert den Protagonisten und will, dass dieser für ihn arbeitet. Somit wird diesem der Eintritt in die Welt der Magie ermöglich, die parallel zur unseren existiert. Leider erfährt man nie, was eigentlich der Auftrag ist, was der Protagonist erreichen soll, welche Gefahr Odin abwenden möchte oder ob ein Scheitern für ihn oder die Menschheit irgendwelche Folgen hätte. Folglich kann man nicht mitfiebern, es gibt keinen Spannungsbogen.
Im finalen Showdown wird der Bösewicht zwar ausgeschaltet, aber mir war nicht klar, worin das Böse dieses Wichts eigentlich bestand. Es bleibt ein Text, der sich in der Beschreibung magischer Details verliert.
