By the end, the story has nearly completely abandoned its original premise. The fact that the protagonist is a hive queen becomes more of a side note that the actual theme of the story.
Its not a terrible story, but if you're expecting a book written from the unique perspective of an alien hive mind, you will be disappointed.

On the other hand, there is a rather standard fantasy setting and story going on after the MC reaches the human settlement. Not much hive and swarm after that point.
More focus on the MC and his race would have been preferable.
Side note: The so called 'gender agenda' is negligible to not existent. The MC reacts to his new alien insect egg laying body as any other human would do (I assume) …
The Author tries to use he and she to distinguish between 'his' human mind and 'her' insect instincts in some chapters. I thought this was well written.

The premise is great, which in itself gives it 2/2 points.
The authors writing skills are above tumblr fan-fiction, which warrants 1/3 points.
The speaker is enthusiastic enough to make the overall experience enjoyable, good work worth 2/3 points.
The establishing of the settings and world building is logical but all over the place, 1/2 points.
Left a good enough impression to make me intrigued about the sequel.
Listen for the concept, not the story.

The book is pretty unique as it doesn't leave out the dirty parts of reincarnating as an alien, like how the alien eggs are made...
The story is also pretty solid, nothing too unexpected but till with a twist here and there.
The character are realistic and evolve in a pleasant way throughout the book.
All in all I can really recommend giving it a read!
(Especially if you like fantasy and swarm behavior. )

Despite the crazy situations and conflicts the Mc is in, his/her reaction are believable. The ability he/she has are potentially busted but have enough limitations and conditions, so that tension can exist.
The voice actor also does a good job.
All in all I am excited for the next book.
