In a world full of super powers, Felix has a pretty crappy one.

He has the ability to modify any item he owns. To upgrade anything.

Sounds great on paper. Almost like a video game.

Except that the amount of power it takes to actually change, modify, or upgrade anything worthwhile is beyond his abilities.

With that in mind, Felix settled into a normal life. A normal job.

His entire world changes when the city he lives in is taken over by a super villain. Becoming a country of one city. A city state.

Surprisingly, not a whole lot changed. Politicians were still corrupt. Banks still held onto your money. And criminals still committed crime.

Though the black market has become more readily available.

And in that not-so-black market, Felix discovers he has a way to make his power useful after all, and grasps a hold of his chance with both hands.

This book is like the listening equivalent of an audible cookie clicker. So for me it was addicting.
I love Jeff Hays's reading. He gives all characters voices that very much enhance the experience without overdoing it.
All in all this book is a power fantasy. It does have stakes and the characters sometimes struggle but the main enjoyment comes from seeing the characters succeed and spending time with them.
This Video Game Plotline Tester and Morningwood were my favourite 'light entertainment'-books in the last few months. In fact this book made me completely stop my more serious books until i finished it - like i said, i was addicted.
I thibk you will be able to enjoy it if you have not played any video-games but you should be ready to just accept some things that feel very 'gamey'.

I enjoyed myself hearing this book even though it is not the best there is. The beginning is quite fast and the charakters dont always act reasonable in my opinion. Specialiy from the heroes I would have guest to hear complains earlier to what they where doing. And everyone seems to be happy to be a slave.. should this be part of the magic binding them?
A big letdown are the charactersheets. They take a lot of time to hear through and dont give a lot of information... really annoying. The important details would have been enough..

Welchen drei Worte würden für Sie Super Sales on Super Heroes treffend charakterisieren?

I'm listening to audio books daily for at least 2,5 hours. Some of them are good, some not so. But this one was outstanding. I must admit, the first 30 (?) minutes I was definitely not convinced and I remember that I was briefly thinking about returning the book, but I'm so glad I didn't.
The story is truly unique. It has a rich set of round characters, some a bit exaggerated, but it makes them even more lovely.
Jeff Hays did a really great job of bringing every single one life and give them a unique character.
What confused me in the beginning, but helped me to dive even deeper into the story were the "sound effects" when Felix was thinking or someone was talkin on the phone, great!
I often get bothered when I hear a new audio book and realize that this was just the beginning of (another) series I have to follow, but when I realized it this time, I was simply relieved that the story will go on.
Just saw that book #2 was released some days ago and I hope it will be available as audio book soon.
Can't wait, recommend it highly!

Schöne Story, vor allem im zusammengefassten Blick der gedämmt Geschichte die über mehrere Buch Serien läuft.
Extrem guter Einstieg in die Serie.
Teilweise etwas random mit den Events in der Story, macht aber Sinn wenn man das Gesamtbild sieht. Es wird quasi von Point zu Point gesprungen, und wenig Nebenstory.

The story idea is pretty unique and well carried ou. However, as another reviewer already wrote, the extremely tiresome reading of what I suppose are stats tables in the printed book kills the storyline at the most exciting places. The voice actor does a good job of enacting all persons differently. His reading, though, always gives the impression of being out of breath, and he finishes his sentences somewhat "pressed". All in all, a nice enough story that every other chapter brought up thoughts of returning the book to Audible.

I really can't understand some of the negative reviews here. The flowing will contain minor spoilers but not really more then the audio test you can listen to.
TLDR: Great story, interesting development, typical LitRpg elements, though not to strong. Don't judge a speaker by ratings and comments, just listen to the audio probe, or use refund if you're unsatisfied I think he's amazing.

Story and charactera:
The book is really similar to LitRpgs. If You don't like to deal with read aloud stats you'll either have to skip the book, ore bare with it. It doesn't happen as often as in true LitRpgs though.
The story contains some harem elements and a growing main character. The harem elements are not plagued by cluelessness in the likes of some other books ore mangas. The critic towards the MC finding solutions for problems by thinking of them is really short sighted though. While he does find solutions to most problems, that's what characters in books do. In contarray to some of the critics here, I think it is done in a believable way, fitting the given backstory and charactertraits. If you really dislike a (slightly) overpowered main character you might dislike this one though.

Speaker:
I personally love Hehh Heys as a reader. I really can't understand what some people are talking about his voice being boring. Maybe if you want the feeling of a reader jumping around and screaming in your ears you should serachbfir someone like that.
Just try the audio probe every book has and judge for yourself!

i could not get the first three hours. dude collects cute super hero girls as slaves. I expect him to fuck them all eventually but really don't want to listen. wish I could refund but can't find the option.

Avoid unless you like bad fanfic of an incel.
