Über diesen Titel

Jules van der Meer... He's somebody I shouldn't want, someone I can't have.

The forbidden fruit. The desire not to be indulged in. He's wealthy, successful, important... everything I'm not.

I'm half his age. Immature and desperate.

It's what they all say—the men in the night with the fancy clothes and the shiny cars, with enough money to make me do whatever they please.

But him... well, he looks at me like I'm the answer to his prayers, a diamond in the rough. He doesn't realize how wrong he is, though.

I'm poison—putrid and vile. I'll seep into his pores, wrap around his bones, and destroy whatever light he has left until he's just like me...

Nothing but storm clouds and devastation.

Storm Clouds and Devastation is book two in the Hidden Affairs standalone MM series. This book features a significant age gap and touches on heavy issues such as mental illness.

This book was devastatingly heartbreaking. Please read the trigger warnings before you even start the first chapter. This is a heavy read and absolutely not for the faint of heart—but despite all that, I loved it.

Storm Clouds and Devastations completely shattered me.

My heart ached and bled for beautiful Bodhi. Introduced in book one as serious, grumpy, and closed off, I was incredibly curious to learn what shaped him into the man he is—and book two immediately gives us those answers. What young Bodhi had to endure during his childhood was truly heartbreaking. Having no one in his corner—not even his own mother—was painful beyond words.

As a mother myself, these chapters filled me with rage. I despised his entire family for not seeing him, not protecting him, and not standing up for him. Their failure left Bodhi alone, struggling with an eating disorder and deep depression, and those moments were incredibly hard to read. I just wanted to jump into the book, hug him, protect him and tell him that he is worthy of love.

Then there’s Jules—twenty years older than Bodhi and dealing with his own dark chapter in life. When he meets Bodhi, he simply cannot let him go, even when Bodhi ignores him, denies his feelings, and keeps him firmly at arm’s length. Their dynamic is raw, painful, and deeply emotional.

Both were two broken pieces complementing each other who were able to love and heal through their tears and heartache.

This book is very much about facing your demons, living with depression, and learning how to heal—and yes, there is a happy ending. Still, after all the pain Bodhi and his innocent, beautiful heart had to endure, I wished we had seen more fallout for Charles. A deeper look at the consequences would have been incredibly satisfying. I also struggled with the lack of answers regarding Bodhi’s mother—her denial after everything came out—and how, over all those years, not even his brother Noah noticed or did anything. These questions remained unresolved for me.

The narration, however, was absolutely stunning. Teddy Hamilton delivered an overwhelmingly emotional performance in Bodhi’s chapters. Every ounce of sadness, pain, self-doubt, fear, and self-destructive thought was there to hear and feel. Teddy is one of the best narrators for a reason and never fails to amaze me, no matter the genre.

Liam DiCosimo also did an exceptional job as Jules, bringing depth and quiet strength to his character.

The spice was well executed and, while somewhat frequent, it never overshadowed the main story or the emotional healing at its core.
