I’ve read a lot of A.J. books—especially her MM stories—and I’ve loved most of them. So naturally, I started this series with fairly high expectations… and ended up with mixed feelings.

A book centered around sex work isn’t new territory for me, so that wasn’t the issue. The premise itself was actually very promising: a man who loses his job and his cheating wife on the same day, followed shortly by a bi-awakening? Sign me up.

Vaughn was a very intriguing MMC. At 32, he’s mature, hot, serious, slightly grumpy, controlled, and carries a subtle alpha energy that really worked for me. His opposite, Camden, is 22—a carefree, happy college student with a very successful side hustle: a sex account that pays his college tuition. On paper, their dynamic had a lot of potential.

The spice? Very steamy and very frequent. No complaints there.
BUT… and this is what made me hesitate with my rating: for about 95% of the book, the relationship felt very clinical and mechanical, especially from Camden’s side. His admission of having real feelings for Vaughn comes almost at the very end, and because of that, the emotional chemistry between them suffered for me.

What surprised me most was that the denial didn’t come from where I expected it to. Vaughn—who was straight and married until 32—accepted his bisexuality and his feelings for Camden very quickly and was openly honest about them. Meanwhile, Camden was the emotionally distant one, which felt a bit unbalanced.

Another aspect that never fully landed for me was the fallout with Vaughn’s wife. She was insufferable throughout the entire book, and after blackmailing both Vaughn and Camden before the divorce was finalized, I really wanted a satisfying conclusion there. Unfortunately, we never got one.

I also wished for:
More clarity on how successful Vaughn became with his sex account after collaborating with Camden
More story after they officially got together—something beyond just the epilogue
That said, I still enjoyed the book overall, and the narration was very good. Aiden Snow and Iggy Toma did a solid job bringing the characters to life.

The storyline was interesting, with some unnecessary and unrealistic drama.

I loved the narrators - but had some problems with story.

Vaughn is a very unlikeable, entitled character in the first half of the story.

I really hate how much people drink alcohol in American stories - it seams so ingrained in the culture, it’s quite alarming.

I also don’t appreciate how the female characters are portrayed in a lot of the MM genre- here we have the needy, greedy ex - do the authors realise they write for a mainly female audience? Can we please be inclusive and not prejudiced?

Ah, I’m going to shut up now.

Lovestory set in indie porn industry

I realised in the beginning that the audiobook won't be nice to listen to, except for the great speakers but I wanted to give the story a chance to get better. Unfortunately both characters miss any soul, it's mainly sex and nonsense dialogues. The drama is ridiculous and it seems like the author herself had no motivation anymore in the end... The psycho ex wife (ridiculous anyway) isn't mentioned anymore, after she was taking over the evil devil role...
