Über diesen Titel

Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers and Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley are back in the next Lynley novel from Sunday Times bestselling author Elizabeth George.

A Nigerian born detective sergeant working for the Metropolitan Police is found unconscious in her own flat and ends up in hospital where she dies of her injury. The post-mortem reveals that the subdural hematoma is the result of a blow to her head. DI Thomas Lynley, DS Barbara Havers and DS Winston Nkata are called in to investigate a case that touches upon not only the work and the life of the murdered detective but also upon a controversial cultural tradition that damages and often destroys the future of everyone it involves.

Vivienne Rochester is extremely good. I am so glad I didn’t have to cringe through like 20 hours of a white actor trying to imitate as many black voices as there are in this book. The story is also good.

The problem is that something must have gone wrong in the production—many voices that come over an intercom or telephone simply aren’t there—the listener hears chunks of silence instead. That means the listener has to imagine some key parts of the story, including the reveal! Additionally, the balance can be a bit painful when listening on headphones, as some voices are far louder than their dialogue partners’.

Vivienne Rochester should narrate more books! Especially, her voice and talent would significantly improve “What Happened Before He Shot Her.”

Great narration; production problems

Die Geschichte ist gut, aber die Sprecherin ist, im Vergleich zu der Sprecherin der letzten englischen Geschichte, sehr anstrengend, teilweise unangenehm

Spannung gehalten
