Congratulations to Elizabeth George for picking up female genital mutilation (FGM) as a topic for an exciting police thriller set in London, as attention is drawn to the fact that much of FGM happens in Europe.

One star less for the author getting carried away in describing details not relevant to the story, which made me yawn from time to time.

Congratulations also to the reader whose voice and accent modulations almost turn the reading into a play, making characters immediately recognisable and familiar after a number of pages.
