I was quite disappointed with this one as Gone girl is one of my favourite novels.
Camille's does not give the impression of a real person, her reactions are solely based on what the author wants us to observe. She has no substance or drive of her own. Even if her character was meant to lack confidence and be distant due to her upbringing, her reactions did not add up.

I understand that the age of the young characters is meant as an exaggeration or extreme but their manner of speaking and actions were extremely confident and gritty for children who grew up with a roof over their head. This continuously pulled me out of the narrative.

The author does nail the eerie, uncanny and stomach turning effect with this story though.

Flynn's weakest work

This is my second book from Gillian Flynn and it's as brilliant as "Gone Girl". She knows how put goose bumps on her readers. Her stories are deliberate, like an extremly well planned project. The way she tells them make you think "it's frightening that people could be like that".
I hope she keeps going on like that.

Wow, I’m still trying to process what I’ve just listened to. I hadn’t been a fan of Gillian Flynn‘s Gone Girl, but was intrigued since I’ve started to watch the HBO show and liked it. The story is really disturbing but so well told - and narrated (the narrator also did The woman in the window by A.J. Finn - and her performance is amazing). I loved it! Wondering how anyone can come up with such a story?!

Sharp Objects wasn't as good as other Gillian Flynn novels. I was disturbed by all the sexualisation of little girls.

Super spannend und letztlich noch mit überraschender, wenn auch trauriger Wende. Total empfehlenswert.
Hauptperson wird gut herausgearbeitet und der Plott ist völlig stimmig.
