This was one of the best audio books I have listened to. The story is cruel, haunting, unbelievable but the characters are very well written and lovable. I could not stop listening and used every opportunity to continue following those kids in the attic and their sad lives.
Mena Suvari's reading was outstanding, she did an incredible job! I was looking for the second book but unfortunately couldn't find it anywhere which is very disappointing. Will Mena Suvari not read more of the books?

Outstanding performance - unbelievable story

A story that makes you want to keep on listening. Very captivating but also gruesome. Some parts are kind of hard to sit through (not because they're badly written but because those horrible things are so well described).
Not a fan of the ending, though. That spoiled the story a little for me.
(spoiler ahead:)
Why bring up considering going to the police when they wouldnt? Why talk about how much they hate her when they won't do anything about it? I feel like those kids deserved some kind of justice, which they didn't get. Maybe that is the real horror.

Great story. ending is me, though.
