Über diesen Titel

There are worse things than death.

With the rise of Varia d'Malvane comes the fall of the Mist Continent. Cavanos is overrun by the brutal rampage of the valkerax, led by its former crown princess. Vetris is gone. Helkyris is gone. As each mighty nation falls, the grip of the crown princess closes around the throat of the world.

But Zera Y'shennria isn't out yet.

Alongside Malachite, Fione, Yorl, and her love Lucien, Zera seeks aid from the High Witches and the Black Archives, with the valkerax horde hot on their heels. Seemingly unstoppable, Varia can track Zera through her dreams, ensuring there is nowhere to run. Thankfully, an ancient book holds the key to stopping the incursion forever.

But at what cost comes freedom?

At what cost comes love?

At what cost comes the end of the world, and the beginning of a new one?

the last book is vastly different from the first two, so maybe the readers might feel bamboozled. It stared as the average YA then sprawls into a journey to the „end of the world“ with heavy worldbuilding changing settings and spiritual undertone, which made perfect sense in my view to be honest. Vedic, spiritual and wicca/magic believes intertwine nicely to give ground to the conflict in the story. My favorite takeaway is much simpler though. Lucien the love interest must be one of the few male protagonists who is caring and likable from YA novel standards nowadays.
It was a loong journey to get through the audio books, but i am glad i did it. My interest was not high on many times, especially the liberal notions weaved into the story. The queernorm which seems to loom over the world like an alien piece of fabric was irritating. The author used mostly one dimensional archetypes and typical physical traits black hair/blonde blue eyes, dragons (in a sense), urchins, medieval political establishments, the helping fairy god-mother SO pushing in the queerness felt forced.

Hm? From YA to High Fantasy
