Too bad no one told her Pestilence can’t be killed.

Now the horseman, very much alive and very pissed off, has taken her prisoner, and he’s eager to make her suffer. Only, the longer she’s with him, the more uncertain she is about his true feelings towards her, and hers towards him.

And now, well, Sara might still be able to save the world, but in order to do so, she'll have to sacrifice her heart in the process.

I love the book from start to finish and Susannah Jones did a great job narrating it. The narration is on-point and Ms. Jones manages to give unique voices to the two heroines, Sara and Pestilence.

Great narration, worth the money

Super Sprecherin, musste immer schmunzeln wenn sie als Pestilence ins Micro hauchte.
Interessante Liebesgeschichte aus dem Fantasy Sektor. Ein Horseman ist mal etwas Anderes.
Der langsame Aufbau der Spannung zwischen den Hauptpersonen ist wirklich gut geschrieben/gesprochen.
Humor kommt auch nicht zu kurz (zum Beispiel nennt Sarah das männliche, edle Pferd des Horsemans Trixie :D).
Wer schwere Literatur oder sehr viel Erotik erwartet ist hier falsch.

Pestilenz ist einer der Reiter der Apokalypse. Als der erste der Vier zieht er durch die moderne Welt und verbreitet Krankheit und Tod. Bis er von Sara getötet werden soll. Interessant gestaltet sich das Geplänkel der beiden, Todfeinde zu Beginn, versucht sie ihm Menschlichkeit näher zu bringen, während er stoisch seine Aufgabe erfüllt. Auch hier folgt die Autorin dem beliebten Schema, Liebe überwindet alles, so wird auch Pestilenz am Ende von ihr in die Knie gezwungen. Die Sprecherin ist etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig, liegt aber teilweise auch an der Art und Weise, wie die Geschichte erzählt wird. Die langsame, ruhige, manchmal öde, dann wieder übertriebenen Sprechweise macht es manchmal schwer, mit der Geschichte warm zu werden.

Pestilence is one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. As first of the four he rides through the modern world spreading illness and death. Until he shall be shot down by Sara. There meeting is interesting, enemies to the death in first place, she tries to show him humanity. Here the author follows the well known scheme of love overcomes everything. So Pestinlence is forced down on his knees by love. The speaker is quite some strange, maybe it is because the way the story is told - slow, quiet, sometimes boring, next over exaggerated. Very hard to warm up, I promise, second time is easier going.

At first I loved the idea of Horsemen coming to end the world but then get closer to humanity through our heroin.

As much as our protagonist made me laugh by her deadpan commentary - I simply couldn't go through with the story. I did try several times on different days. But nope, couldn't do it

Pestilence legit tortures Sara. No consensual stuff - REAL torture. And then listening to Sara's inner turmoil "Yes he tortured me and will continue to do so, but damn he is hot".

But after the vivid torturing, I was so utterly disgusted with where this story would go to next, I had to stop.

Was für eine grässliche Buch. Es ist monoton, unlogisch und hat die dümmste Heldin die ich je gesehen habe. Was macht mann wenn man das erste mal der Reiter des Apocalypse sieht? Na glotzen natürlich, was für ein geiles Körper! Boah ist er geil...??? Kein Welt Aufbau, das ganze Buch wandern die von Haus zu Haus und haben sex. Der Reiter ist pseudo aggressiv, beherrschend und ein Kontroll freak. Aber ja sie liebt ihm halt. Es ist sehr sehr schlecht. Sparrt eurer Zeit und Geld. :(
