Michael Crawley spent fifteen months in Ethiopia training alongside (and sometimes a fair way behind) runners at all levels of the sport, from night watchmen hoping to change their lives to world class marathon runners, in order to answer these questions. A joy
Fantastic window into the life of exceptional athletes. The author gives a well researched and informed by ethnographic practice, as well as deeply embedded and human account of his time in Ethiopia. Strongly recommended, especially if you like running
