Nathan Long really surprised me with how emotional this story is. This book really gets in detail to the heart of Gotrek. And fittingly, it is a tragedy. Also amazing performance by Jonathan Keeble who sells the heartbreak perfectly.

Gotrek's best character arc so far...and very sad

Düster mit ordentlich kosmischen Horror. Super geschrieben. Geht sehr stark auf die Zwerge im allgemeinen ein.

The story is decent; it feels like an interesting departure from the more traditional warhammer stories; that said, I do prefer the more traditional approach.

The ending was baffling. Characters acted different from the previous books and the overall tone and humor felt off.

All of that said: Jonathan Keeble is a godsend. The way he brings the characters to live, the emphasis he gives and the mood he creates uplifts the whole thing and is the main reason why I still enjoyed it and can recommend it.

By all means the story wasn't terrible but:
Firstly we follow a human and a dwarf but they don't quite feel like the Gotrick and Felix I know from the earlier stories. The Gotrick who allied with an elf to save his friend and companion from within a vile portal is gone and exchanged for someone even less caring and colder.

Other minor points would be: Most of the dwarves act like children rather than the dwarves they should be and some plot points are silly and don't make much sense.

Altogether I would say it is a decent enough fantasy story but for me at least the book before was the proper ending to this Saga.
-Might edit again if I decide to listen to the other books.
