Nexus is just great to think about our present and potential future

Harari sorts out information theory and recombines it to make us think about our power of information from different angles. AI is changing the picture faster than we may find comforting. It’s about time to realize what we need to do to deal with our invention.

Author bites off more than he can chew

I never really understood the criticism of Yuval Harari with his other books but I felt the overgeneralisation and oversimplification in this book more than his other work. I still believe this is a good book and gives a good introduction into information systems and some dangers artificial intelligence might pose to us.

I'd call this a must-read (or listen) for pretty much every adult person in the 21st century.

Reading / listing to this book, you get the sense that this man has spent his whole life investigating, meditating over and discussing the history of how humans cooperate with each other, and that he really tried to approach the topic with as little bias as possible.
I agree with Yuval that AI (despite all its huge potential upsides) poses by far the greatest risk for ending our civilization this century. Our current handling of the topic shows, I think, that we don't even yet grasp what human intelligence actually is, let alone human consciousness. While not even Yuval has a clear-cut anwer to that question, he managed to make me quite viscerally aware of the fact my own mind does not exist in a vacuum, it's part of a social and biological system, which influences what I think, what I care about and how I can express those sentiments to others. He does this in his unmistakable style, combining analytical thinking but also a lot of empathy to make us deeply understand how societal forces drove people to create both great wonders and horrible atrocities throughout history. I feel a bit more ready to face the gravity of what's in store for us in this century, and I hope it can do the same for you! Even if you are not alarmed as me, the book is still worth the read / listen just for its unique perspective on history and sociology.
I cannot recommend it enough!

must read for everyone working in politics, tech or media. Clearly and precisely written, Harari describes information systems of the past and the present and outlines what might be ahead of us in the era of AI

Amazing book, profound and illuminating

Its the first book of Harari i read and am very pleased. It provides an incredible insight into the complexities of AI revolution. And tackles ine of most important issues of today - the future of our democratic system in the era of bots, alien intelligence and machines communicating with machines.

This book needs to be standard literature in our modern day and age

Harari makes the case that AI might be the end of the way people interact in our world. He makes compelling arguments and shows very convincingly that we have to deal with this supercharged techbology before we cannot anymore. Must read, well written, very interesting and nested in the historic timeline.
