The story didn't catch me at all. The passages, in which the function of magic in this wold is discribed, are too long and there are too many in my opinion. You listen for minutes and minutes and it doesn't happen anything other than magic theory. When the characters interact or when there is a fight, the book is exciting, funny and interesting... and it is fun to listen. But these passages aren't many enough to really entertain me. I think there might be people who enjoy this kind of book, but it's just not my cup of tea.

concept itself sounded interesting, but not my thing so far (halfway through),the writing style is weird to me: pacing is off and the author has a flat way of writing, doesn't adhere to "show not tell"-rule most of the time. Basically the author describes things in a way I seem to get bored by them (even magic). I couldn't warm up to the chosen narrator's mostly surprised/aghast sounding way of narrating. Wouldn't say I don't recommend, just to each their own.
