Does a bear shift in the woods?

Well, partially. That was what got grizzly-shifter Ted Farnsworth into trouble. He wasn’t trying to break the Secrecy Pact. He just wants people to see the real him. So he signs up with the mate-matching service Supernatural Selection - which guarantees marriage to a perfect partner. Not only will Ted never be lonely again, but once his new beaver-shifter husband arrives, they’ll build Ted’s dream wilderness retreat together. Win-win.

Quentin Bertrand-Harrington, scion of an incubus dynasty, has abstained from sex since nearly killing his last lover. When his family declares it’s time for him to marry, Quentin decides the only way not to murder his partner is to pick someone who’s already dead. Supernatural Selection finds him the ideal vampire, and Quentin signs the marriage agreement sight unseen.

But a mix-up at Supernatural Selection contracts Quentin with Ted. What’s Ted supposed to do with an art historian who knows more about salad forks than screwdrivers? And how can Quentin resist Ted’s mouthwatering life force? Yet as they work together to untangle their inconvenient union, they begin to wonder if their unexpected match might be perfect after all.

Loved the story, personally im not a huge fan of spicy scenes in books in general but this had a nice balance.

I had a lot of fun with this one. The ending was a bit obvious, but still the way the characters got there was pretty cool.
Quentin is very supportive of his accidental spouse after they get it together. Ted is cute in his worry. And I adore how family is treated - despite their differences, they do love and appreciate each other. This is very much a feel-good-story.
The narrator does a good job giving everyone different voices - I'm a biiiig fan of Ted's growl and poor Zeke's squeaks.

I'm looking forward to the second story!

I was looking for a different book genre to read and this was so cute. The over the top magical stuff is taken so seriously but not at the same time. I found myself gasping out loud and wishing I could see them. Ted was so adorable I was smitten by him. He was so respectful and lovable, just the best bear 🐻

Ich hab mir den Titel eigentlich nur geholt, weil ich den Sprecher Greg Boudreaux so mag und nicht mehr viel von ihm zur Auswahl stand (da ich alles andere schon gehört habe) . Eigentlich hatte ich nicht viel erwartet, da mich das Cover nicht wirklich angesprochen hat und ich dachte bei einem Inkubus kann es ja eigentlich nur ums eine gehen - aber völlig falsch (zu meinem Glück).

Die Story ist wirklich sehr süß geschrieben. Ted ist in meinen Augen ein super sympathischer Charakter (ein eher extrovertierter Bär der unter Einsamkeit leidet und ein bisschen naiv im Vorgehen dagegen ist) und das Inkubus-sein von Quentin spielt eigentlich auch keine sehr große Rolle (bis auf den Fakt, dass es ihm selbst Angst macht). Die Handlung hat für mich Spaß gemacht zu hören und das Ende fand ich nochmal als besonderen i-Punkt.

Ich werde mir jetzt definitiv auch mal die anderen Titel der Autorin anschauen.

I'm not usually a fan of spin-off series, but in my opinion, this one is even better than the original. I skipped a few chapters in the three original books because I found the whole Fae politics a bit confusing and long-winded. Here, it does get a bit chaotic at the end, and the drama is a little over the top at times, but overall I find the story very entertaining and funny in many places. My tip is to enjoy the first part alternating chapters with the second part, because the two storylines actually run parallel. I find the characters very likeable and was also delighted to meet old acquaintances from the original series again. The narrator is—as always—great.
