After defeating the ice giants of the North and saving the dwarves, Mason faces his toughest challenge yet: politics.

Mason and his band of badass warrior women travel to Nalnora, the kingdom of the elves, in order to learn more about the master and his runic powers. However, the elves are not as forthcoming as the other kingdoms. To win them over, Mason must curry favor with the great eleven houses through various means: weapon building, assassination, and cultivating life saving medicine.

Oh, and he has to be careful not to be eaten by the Nalnoran landscape.

The main characters are extremly dumb in this book. After the 1st night attack they don't use night guards, it takes them 3 attacks to realise that they need shelter in the night, they first try to shoot the man eating plants instead of burning them, they don't ask the baroness why she doesn't get the information since she is on friendly terms with the elves.
Half the times when something important is happening the main characters are "in trance" or "in a daze" because the story needs them to react slowly.
The story tries to make it seems as if crossbows are better weapons than guns without mentioning their only good point...that they're more silent weapons.
Weapons made of gold are a really bad idea if you have iron available.

The baroness is the worst thing that could've happened to the story, she is a character that has information wich would've helped Masons group very much and in turn herself but doesn't give it to them because the story wants her to be mysterious.

This book was disappointing, annoying and really enraging because of it's lack of any common sense and tactical planing wich was what made the 1st few books interesting. They just walz in without any plan and then roll from fetch quest to fetch quest.
They should've died at least 5 times.

the book that killed the story
