Inhaltsangabe

Sheryl Sandberg - Facebook COO, ranked eighth on Fortune's list of the 50 Most Powerful Women in Business - has become one of America's most galvanizing leaders, and an icon for millions of women juggling work and family. In Lean In, she urges women to take risks and seek new challenges, to find work that they love, and to remain passionately engaged with it at the highest levels throughout their lives.

Lean In - Sheryl Sandberg's provocative, inspiring book about women and power - grew out of an electrifying TED talk Sandberg gave in 2010, in which she expressed her concern that progress for women in achieving major leadership positions had stalled. The talk became a phenomenon and has since been viewed nearly 2,000,000 times. In Lean In, she fuses humorous personal anecdotes, singular lessons on confidence and leadership, and practical advice for women based on research, data, her own experiences, and the experiences of other women of all ages. Sandberg has an uncanny gift for cutting through layers of ambiguity that surround working women, and in Lean In she grapples, piercingly, with the great questions of modern life. Her message to women is overwhelmingly positive. She is a trailblazing model for the ideas she so passionately espouses, and she's on the pulse of a topic that has never been more relevant.

a must read!!!! UNBEDINGT anhören!!!!

This audiobook is a MUST LISTEN for every woman (AND every man indeed). I recognized many situations and feelings, Sheryl described and it is kind of comforting to know that I am not unique in feeling this way. Her explanations are truly vivid and great. It made myself shiver to read that e.g. woman are promoted according to their achievements and men are promoted according to their potential. And honestly: his is strange wise so true!
And: why do we woman only apply for job where we believe to fit 100% whereas men do apply once they believe they fit circa 60%?! Same here … achievement and potential differences … I am surprised and shocked by this and will try to be one of the drivers for change here!

I honestly have already listened to the book twice and can only recommend to all of you to do that. Once to listen to be surprised - second time to learn :-)

LOVE this book and can undoubtedly recommend it!

very honest and we'll pictured

the author points out the fears and struggles women face at the workplace.
It is wonderful to hear, how she managed career and family despite fearing not to be present enough at home.
Further I liked the simple but true statement about how to find the perfect partner - I can only agree looking at my partner or my father.
Also loved, how she states the importance of male role models in the family and how kids benefit from both parents being present in their life, instead of only the mother being the primary care giver.

Inspirational read!

My very first book on audible and I finished listening to it within 2 days. Sheryl is a natural story teller, her success story is so popular, one may feel related especially for women who are also career oriented. A breath of fresh air for feminism movement in such an applicable way. She illustrated each point with multi perspective real life examples and interesting findings. I'm motivated after reading it and took many notes for myself. It is one of the book that I could remember what it's about and enthusiastically discuss with others!

Helpful

I have been in some of the situations described in the book and was relieved to hear that even very successfull women like Mrs Sandberg faced those problems. She encourages women to not give up and put effort into their career, but also talks about the obstacles they face because of their gender and how social perceptions discourage many women from pursueing their career. She explains very well why many women don't "lean in" and that it has a lot to do with what society expects from women. I can recommend this book to any woman, but also to all men, since I feel that many of them unwittingly discriminate against women without noticing or wanting it, and this book would make them more aware of the issue, help them understand why their female colleagues behave the way they do and how they should react to them.
