Über diesen Titel

Jacques Lacan was one of the most important psychoanalysts ever to have lived. Building upon the work of Sigmund Freud, he sought to refine Freudian insights with the use of linguistics and mathematics, arguing that 'the structure of unconscious is like a language'. He is widely misunderstood and often unfairly dismissed as impenetrable. In this clear, wide-ranging primer, Lionel Bailly demonstrates how Lacan’s ideas are still vitally relevant to contemporary issues of mental health treatment. Including coverage of developments in Lacanian psychoanalysis since his death, this is the perfect introduction to the great modern theorist.©2009 Lionel Bailly (P)2012 Bolinda Publishing Philosophie Seelische & Geistige Gesundheit

Beschreibung von Audible

Presented in two four-hour sections, this audiobook presents theorist Lacan to beginners. Diedre Rubenstein narrates in a sharp, clear voice, reminiscent of a favorite college professor, the one who could keep you on the edge of your chair on a Monday morning.

Often misunderstood, Lacan remains one of the more difficult theorists for people to understand. But rather than read his primary texts, many of which focus on reevaluating the work of Freud, why not listen to Lionel Bailly's accessible interpretation of Lacan's work? This audio is perfect for those without formal training in psychoanalysis, but who wish to get a sense of Lacan's complex and brilliant work.

Kritikerstimmen

Well-written, carefully structured and broadly accessible. The author offers lucid explanations of key Lacanian concepts, without over-simplifying or having recourse to 'Lacan-light’." (Dany Nobus – Chair of Psychology and Psychoanalysis, Brunel University and author of Jaques Lacan and the Freudian Practice of Psychoanalysis)
"Simply the clearest explanation of Lacan anywhere. The author succeeds where almost everyone else has failed. Highly readable and entertaining." (Peter Fonagy – Freud Memorial Professor of Psychoanalysis, UCL and Chief Executive at the Anna Freud Centre, London)

If you know the basics of S. Freuds works this is a great introduction to Lacans thinking. Along the way there is a bit of history to contextualise Lacans work. Then all the major concepts are introduced and explained in depth. For this you should bring some appetite for theory. For instance de Saussures concept of „Sign“ gets explained. For some listeners this could be a drag, for others the first time to understand it properly. When you expect something Žižek-like, this is not. This is a great textbook introduction on what and how Jacques Lacan added to the toolbox for psychoanalysts. Good input also for laypeople who are interested in what psyche is and how to get a grasp of how it works.

Good overview of Lacans professional history including all the basic theory
