Inhaltsangabe

Cath and Wren are identical twins, and until recently they did absolutely everything together. Now they're off to university, and Wren's decided she doesn't want to be one half of a pair any more - she wants to dance, meet boys, go to parties and let loose. It's not so easy for Cath. She's horribly shy and has always buried herself in the fan fiction she writes, where she always knows exactly what to say and can write a romance far more intense than anything she's experienced in real life.

Without Wren, Cath is completely on her own and totally outside her comfort zone. She's got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend; a fiction-writing professor who thinks fan fiction is the end of the civilized world; a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words...and she can't stop worrying about her dad, who's loving and fragile and has never really been alone.

Now Cath has to decide whether she's ready to open her heart to new people and new experiences, and she's realizing that there's more to learn about love than she ever thought possible.

A love story about opening your heart by Rainbow Rowell, the New York Times best-selling author of Eleanor & Park.

Fangirl now comes with special bonus material: the first chapter from Rainbow's irresistible novel Carry On.

Annoying protagonist and a lot of fluff

I got to admit that I couldn't stop listening to the story for the must part. But what really bugged me was the protagonist, Cath, and that she's mostly very passive which made me want to shake some sense into her. I get that she's an extremely anxious introvert but does she have to be that unable to function?
The other characters were respectively likable, hateable, full of fluff and overall fairly well written I think.
The narrator was mostly ok, but whenever Cath said something her voice was right out flat. I don't know if that's the way the author imagined it but I doubt it. It might've been part of the reason why I didn't like her.
The Simon Snow parts in the end of each chapter were at first confusing, then sometimes funny, sometimes unnecessary.

Kind of a great Story about a Story

I really liked Fangirl. The story is nice and relatable and it gives you some stuff to think about. Its really great written with a lot of details which makes it an awesome listening experience! (Great job by Rebecca Lowman btw). At some points the story is lengthened a bit but that's not a big issue. The only thing I was missing was a more thoroughly ending. The ending came a bit sudden and a left a few open questions (I don't want to spoil anybody so I'm not elaborating this :D ) But all in all its a really good teenage story and fun to listen to :) Oh, and every girl should have a Levi in her life ;)
