"Eileen" is an audiobook that really makes you work to understand its main character. At first, she comes off as unsympathetic, but as the story unfolds, you start to get where she's coming from, even if you don't exactly warm up to her.

But man, the ending! It felt like it just dropped out of nowhere. I was left hanging, wanting more explanations and closure. To me, it wrapped up way too quickly, leaving loose ends untied.

Overall, though, the audiobook is a rollercoaster of character development. It keeps you engaged, peeling back the layers of this mysterious protagonist, even if the ending leaves you craving a bit more.

The narrater captures Eileen perfectly.

Complex character journey

Eileen doesn't make it easy for us to feel sympthetic towards her. But, as we listen to her telling the story of her disappearance, we slowly get into her head, and while we may not agree with her decisions or behavior, we begin to understand what makes her tick and why she may have made certain choices.

This is a rather dark audio book which increasingly drew me in, also thanks to the great narration.

What a pathetic book. Large parts are repetition of what has already been established or just been said. The writing is all tell and no show, the plot is non-existent and the lurid details are its only distinguishing feature.
